Dr. Irizarry is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He completed his undergraduate and veterinary training at Cornell University. He then pursued a rotating small animal internship at California Animal Hospital and then went to work on an emergency and critical care residency at Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialists from 2007 to 2010. He achieved board certification in 2010.
Dr. Irizarry has taught at Auburn University as well as Tuskegee University. He currently works as staff clinician at Steel City Emergency Vets in Birmingham, Alabama. His main professional interests are emergency medicine and the clinical training of technicians, interns and newly graduates invested in emergency medicine and surgery. His wife is a staff radiologist at Vet’s Choice Radiology, and they have two young daughters. They live in Auburn, Alabama.
